Abstract

Based on the observation that the voter turnout is constantly declining in Munich, the qualitative-empirical study targets the question of political lifeworlds in Munich. It is focused on why people find it problematic to participate in the democratic election process or even abstain from it. The question arises as to how people’s concrete living conditions affect their political attitudes and perceptions and how different political lifeworlds are formed in this way.

The study combines qualitative-reconstructive processes with correspondence-analytical presentation methods of objective correlations between various socio-structural features. On the one hand, the participants in the study are enabled to provide information about their living conditions and political attitudes in the framework of group discussions. On the other hand, the socio-structural features are gathered by way of standardized questionnaires.
